FEEDING SAN DIEGO HOLDS SECOND EMERGENCY DISTRIBUTION AT LEGOLAND® CALIFORNIA RESORT TODAY

Large-scale distribution comes just a week after first successful event held in the massive parking lot

SAN DIEGO (March 17, 2021) — Today, Feeding San Diego will again hold a largescale food distribution for those facing hunger in North County. Located in the LEGOLAND® California Resort parking lot in Carlsbad, this one-time distribution is equipped to serve more than 1,400 households. Anyone in need can access fresh, nutritious food at the drive through distribution by simply RSVP’ing to reserve a spot.

This year, Feeding San Diego has continued to address the prevalence of hunger in San Diego County caused by the continued closures and economic impact of the pandemic. In addition to its hundreds of monthly distributions, the organization has held six large-scale, drive through emergency distributions across the county. It continues to serve more than 700,000 meals per month than last year and is committed to extending its reach to provide access to everyone in need.

At the large-scale distribution, attendees will be given information about how to access other Feeding San Diego distributions close to their homes as well as information about CalFresh and how the organization can help them apply. Many people are facing hunger for the first time and don’t know where to turn. One of the objectives of these emergency distributions is to empower people with the information they need to navigate this public health and economic crisis over the long-term.

What: Drive-through distribution where volunteers place food directly in the trunk, always keeping six feet of distance. All attendees are asked to wear a mask. Attendees must register via the link here.

When: Wednesday, March 17, from 4-6 p.m.

Where: LEGOLAND® California Resort (1 Legoland Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92008).

Interview Opportunities: Feeding San Diego team members are available for interviews, as are food recipients potentially. Please contact Allison Glader to arrange an interview.

For additional assistance, those affected by the pandemic or people in need can easily find the closest food distribution by visiting feedingsandiego.org/get-help and entering their zip code in the “Find Food Map.”

To help people facing hunger during the pandemic, San Diegans can give online to enable Feeding San Diego to continue its critical work during this time.
