Accessibility Statement
Last updated: June 5, 2026
Feeding San Diego is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. Access to food and to information about our programs should not depend on how someone navigates the web, and we want every visitor to be able to find help, offer support, or sign up to volunteer without encountering barriers.
Our commitment
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium, explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological differences.
We consider our website to be partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the standard. We are actively identifying and fixing those areas as part of our ongoing work.
What we are doing
To improve accessibility across feedingsandiego.org, we work to:
- Provide text alternatives for images and other non-text content.
- Maintain sufficient color contrast between text and backgrounds.
- Support navigation by keyboard for people who do not use a mouse.
- Use clear headings and labels so screen readers can interpret pages in a logical order.
- Design forms, including our donation and volunteer sign-up forms, to be usable with assistive technology.
- Review new content and features with accessibility in mind before they go live.
Areas we are still improving
Some content on our site may not yet be fully accessible. Known areas we are working on include older PDF documents that may not be fully tagged for screen readers, some third-party tools embedded in our pages, and archived content created before our current standards were in place. We are addressing these as we update the site.
Third-party content
Parts of our website rely on services provided by other organizations, such as our donation platform, maps, and embedded media. We do not control the accessibility of these third-party tools, but we carefully select our partners and raise accessibility concerns with them when we find them. If a third-party feature is creating a barrier for you, please let us know, and we will do our best to provide the information or complete the task with you another way.
Tell us about a problem
If you run into a barrier on our website or need information or a service in a different format, we want to hear from you. Your feedback helps us find problems we may have missed and prioritize fixes.

Ongoing effort
Accessibility is an ongoing effort rather than a one-time project. We review this statement periodically and update it as our website changes and as we make further improvements.
