“I’m a retired veteran, I was in the Navy. It’s my time to share. I make sure that nothing goes to waste with the food I pick up. We have so much food in this country, but people waste it. Hunger is everywhere. I live in a mobile home and I put anything I don’t consume in the laundry area. Everything is shared, and nothing goes to waste. Right now in the grocery store, it’s inflated. Prices are three to four times as much as they were. The government gave us a 3% increase in our social security, so it doesn’t help that much. But this helps a lot.”

“There are seven of us in my household. I live with my mom, who’s 80-years-old, and my husband and four kids. The prices right now are so, so expensive. Sometimes if something is not necessary at the grocery store, I have to put it back. The gas, too, and the electric bill. I’m not turning on the heat. My husband and I are very grateful for this food.”

“I used to come a long, long, long time ago and then things were pretty good so I stopped coming. Now the economy is really bad, and I had to quit my job to take care of my dad who has Alzheimer’s and my husband has Alzheimer’s too, and is quadriplegic. There are really no more words to say other than thank you. This is helping communities. With the economy the way it is, I just hope that the kids are getting enough to eat.”

“There are six of us, plus the cat. I think the food distribution is great. It’s a lot of healthy items that people like and a lot of variety of good vitamins here, stuff that I’ll definitely use and be happy to use. It’s hard for everyone. There’s only a few that it’s not hard for. It’s not just food, it’s gas, it’s rent, it’s everything. I think everyone can agree that any little bit helps and they’re not giving out gas discounts, so having some place to make sure you get the food you need you need. It helps. Thanks for your generosity. It’s much appreciated. It goes a long way.”
