“I have two grandchildren at the school in kindergarten and first grade. I came to school one day, and they [the pantry] were here. Right now, with how the situation is, it’s so hard. It affects all of us. ICE was coming around and just taking people and closing down the factories, and it’s just all bad. Everything’s gone up. Rents are high. And if it wasn’t for this food that they donate, it would be even harder. [The pantry] does help a lot. It helps the families. It helps the kids eat good food. I really appreciate what they donate and what they’re doing for the families and us. Without them, I don’t know what we would do. Sometimes I sit and cry because my grandchildren want fruit, and we don’t have the money to buy it. It’s really hard. But I really want to thank them very much, and I appreciate all their help.”

“I have three kids, and their grades are second, kindergarten, and TK. I am a stay-at-home mom. My husband is in the military, and he has been for over ten years. We relocated here from Florida last year because my husband got stationed here. We found out about the pantry from the Principal in her Monday meetings. It’s been very helpful because the kids love apples and fruits, so when we get that, it’s really awesome. It’s expensive living here. Moving from Florida to San Diego, everything is a lot more expensive, and it just helps us out a lot more. It’s a lot different living here. We are lucky that we have military housing because without it, I don’t think it would be enough to make ends meet. Especially with three kids, we were able to afford a lot more in Florida than we can here, but we make it work.”

“I’m a full-time college student. I have two kids, and my wife is pregnant. So, I come to the food pantry so we can get by and it helps us a lot. I’m working at the Temecula Valley Hospital as a CNA and going to school for nursing. We’ve definitely felt the prices go up. Honestly, if I was just working a full-time job, I don’t even know how I would be able to afford groceries and rent in Southern California. I would just like to say thank you. There are people who need it, and it’s helping families get by and keeping people from being hungry. Luckily, with all the resources, with the help of the donors and the resources we have in California for people of low income, it’s allowed me to be able to go to school. The donors are helping me attain a career, so I can eventually not need the services and maybe even give back the way they have.”
