Vons Joins the 53rd Stop of Smithfield’s 2018 Helping Hungry Homes® Tour

Smithfield Foods, Inc. and Vons will partner to donate 37,000 pounds of protein to Feeding San Diego as part of Smithfield’s Helping Hungry Homes® initiative. This considerable donation provides more than 150,000 servings of protein, a staple of a well-balanced meal, to help the one in eight individuals in San Diego who face hunger every day.

During the 53rd stop of Smithfield’s 2018 Helping Hungry Homes® tour, representatives from Smithfield and Vons will present the donation to Feeding San Diego during a brief press conference to help raise awareness of hunger and discuss the significance of protein donations in helping community members become more food secure.

Smithfield will make large-scale protein donations to food banks across the country during its 2018 Helping Hungry Homes® tour. This year, Smithfield celebrates the 10-year anniversary of Helping Hungry Homes®. Smithfield has provided more than 100 million servings of protein to food banks, disaster relief efforts, and community outreach programs since the program’s inception.
