FEEDING SAN DIEGO’S FIRST DISTRIBUTION AT NEW MOBILE PANTRY SITE IN SANTA YSABEL STARTS TODAY

Twice monthly food distribution to directly serve the Iipay Nation and surrounding communities

SAN DIEGO (February 9, 2021) — Feeding San Diego, the county’s leading hunger relief and food rescue organization, has established a new mobile pantry in rural San Diego County that will provide much-needed assistance to the Iipay Nation and surrounding communities. Reaching predominantly rural areas in north and east San Diego County, Feeding San Diego serves 2,360 families monthly through its Mobile Pantry Program, a unique traveling pantry operation. Food distributions at each site are held on a twice-monthly basis for underserved populations, many of whom are low-income households, farmers, migrant workers, and seniors. In December 2020 Feeding San Diego held an emergency distribution in Santa Ysabel and continued to work within the community to establish a regular distribution.

What: Drive-through distribution where volunteers place food directly in the trunk, always keeping six feet of distance. All attendees are asked to wear a mask. Groceries include fresh produce, canned goods, and shelf-stable nutritious foods. Each distribution will have enough for 100 households.

When: Distributions are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month, starting today, Tuesday, February 9th from 10 to 11 a.m.

Where: 110 ½ School House Canyon Road Santa Ysabel, CA 92070

For additional assistance, those affected by the pandemic or people in need can easily find the closest food distribution by visiting feedingsandiego.org/get-help and entering their zip code in the “Find Food Map.”
