Partner Serves with Compassion and Dignity

FSD would not be able to reach 60,000 children, families and seniors each week without the partnership of 150 nonprofit partners across San Diego County. Recently, CalFresh intern Rachel Oporto shared how impressed she is with the compassion and community involvement displayed by one of these partners, Mission Village Christian.

“Luisa and her staff at Mission Village Christian are so welcoming to visitors and they love having FSD interns there. Their distributions allow clients to come at more convenient times in their schedule, there is rarely a line and they know most of the pantry clients by name. Recently, they partnered with another organization in the community to provide fun for the kids that benefit from their pantry. Activities included trips to Legoland and receiving brand new bikes to ride. I believe these are the kind of people and pantries that flourish because they are so kind and warm to others. I am always delighted to go support their clients.”

Mission Village Christian holds food distributions every Wednesday and the second Saturday of each month. In addition, they host a community garden, pictured above.

Thank you to Luisa and the amazing staff and volunteers at Mission Village Christian for serving those in need with compassion and dignity.
