Thanks to our collaboration with Hunger Free America and with the help of summer meal site nutrition education best practices, our all-volunteer nutrition team developed a one-week kids nutrition curriculum specifically designed to take place over the summer at each of our Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) sites.

This “Nutrition Week,” with the theme “Fuel Your Summer,” encourages kids to be active, choose healthier food and gets kids excited about healthy foods through activities, games and tastings that are facilitated by a team of volunteers and interns.

Nutrition Week took place in June 2015 with great enthusiasm by both the kids at our SFSP sites and the nutrition volunteer team. By the time the summer meal sites finish later this month, our amazing team will have led about 100 nutrition activities for kids over three months at our summer meal sites alone.
