Month of a Million Meals Surpasses Goal
Thanks to incredible support from our community, we are proud to announce that 2,308,435 meals were raised for San Diegans in need since we launched the Month of a Million Meals campaign with ABC 10 News, Azteca San Diego 15/KZSD and Live Well San Diego on November 21, 2015! With the help of generous San Diegans and campaign partners ESET and Naked Cafe, thousands of children, families and seniors will receive nutritious food they need to help make ends meet.
FSD staff, volunteers and local celebrities raised more than 262,000 meals at two ABC 10 News telethons. The telethons featured special guests including former Chargers players, Billy Ray Smith, Chopper the Biker Dog, Kelly Emberg and Dallas Eakins, head coach of the San Diego Gulls.
These funds will have a tremendous impact for those we serve. For example, our School Pantry program, serving 24 sites across San Diego County, provides an average of 90,833 meals each month. That means 2.3 million meals would supply our School Pantries for 25 months!
Thank you for helping us surpass our goal of one million meals for local children, families and seniors facing hunger. We couldn’t have done this without your amazing support and dedication.
