FSD Announces Nutrition Month Recipe Challenge
How many items do you have in your pantry right now? How often do you go shopping for more ingredients instead of getting creative with what you already have?
When families are struggling to make ends meet, they need to make do with what is in their cupboards, which is often food from one of our distributions. This month, we want to invite you to reflect on the challenges so many in our community face by participating in a recipe challenge.
Our Nutrition Month Recipe Challenge will take a little bit of creativity and determination, but anyone can join. We will provide a list of 5-6 food items found in our distribution center and you will use them to create a recipe.
In the spirit of Nutrition Month, we encourage you to make the recipe as healthy as possible. You must include at least 4 of the challenge ingredients and are welcome to include up to 4 additional standard pantry items (oil, flour, salt, etc). This is where the creativity comes in!
Participants have five days to complete the challenge and submit their entries by posting on our Facebook page. Winners will be announced the following week.
The first recipe challenge is scheduled to be posted March 8 on the Feeding San Diego blog and Facebook page with entries accepted through March 13. The second recipe challenge will be posted on March 22 with entries accepted through March 27.
Share your recipe and ideas on social media with #FSDrecipechallenge. We look forward to your participation and all the creative, healthy recipes to follow!
