You can use your voice to impact anti-hunger policy

How You Can Make a Difference

Your voice has power. Whether you’re new to advocacy or a seasoned activist, there are meaningful ways you can help create lasting change for neighbors experiencing hunger. Start with these three actions:

Every election—from local school board races to presidential campaigns—affects policies that impact food security and hunger relief programs.

It’s imperative that you register to vote to ensure your voice is heard on issues that matter to San Diego families.

Find and Engage with Your Representatives

Contact your State Senate, State Assembly, and U.S. Congress members to share your support for policies that help neighbors access nutritious food. Schedule meetings, attend town halls, or send emails about hunger relief priorities in your community.

Take Immediate Action

Congress is considering cuts to SNAP—the program that helps over 42 million people buy groceries. If passed, these cuts could take away more than 9 billion meals each year. Urge lawmakers to protect SNAP—we’ll even provide the message.

Join Us in Advocating for Neighbors Experiencing Hunger

Your voice is powerful. Collectively, our voices can make an impact.

Here in San Diego County, Feeding San Diego is working to make sure people have the food assistance they need.

We do that through our hunger relief programs, which operate year-round, but another important way we do this is by advocating for San Diegans experiencing food insecurity. We work with local and regional elected officials and government agencies to strengthen and improve access to nutrition programs that help families bring nutritious meals home.

As a Feeding America partner food bank, we join with the 200 other food banks that are part of the network to advocate at the national level.
