Director of Social Impact, Hunger Action Heroes Unite!

Dana Williams brings more than 25 years of experiential and integrated marketing experience to her role as director of social impact for Hunger Action Heroes Unite! (HAHU). HAHU is a social enterprise of Feeding San Diego that includes a comic book, standards-aligned classroom curriculum, and national challenge aimed at turning kids into hunger-relief and food rescue heroes with every sale supporting Feeding San Diego’s mission.

Dana joined Feeding San Diego as director of marketing and communications in April 2019. She was part of the leadership team that helped guide the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic, while it grew exponentially to meet the community’s demand for hunger relief support. Over six years, Dana helped build and lead the strategy for Feeding San Diego’s brand and storytelling, establishing the organization as one of the most respected charities in San Diego and beyond and a trusted name among donors, volunteers, partners, and staff.

The idea for HAHU took shape in 2021, when Dana had an epiphany while walking through the newly opened Comic-Con Museum with her daughters: even superheroes need help sometimes. Dana worked with a fellow colleague, Allison Glader, to bring the idea to life, growing HAHU alongside her marketing role for four years before transitioning full-time to the project in August 2025 as director of social impact.

Dana is passionate about equipping kids with the understanding, empathy, and confidence to care for people and the planet, and the belief that they can make a difference at any age. In March 2026, Dana was named a San Diego Weekly Standout honoree for turning students into everyday heroes through storytelling, comics, and classroom action. In 2025, Hunger Action Heroes Unite! was named the Most Innovative Campaign at the San Diego Business Journal’s Non-Profit & Corporate Citizenship Awards.

Before joining Feeding San Diego, Dana spent nearly a decade in global sports and event sponsorship. She managed Honda’s multimillion-dollar sponsorship of the Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix at GMR Marketing and her own consultancy, then relocated to Vancouver in 2008 to lead Olympic client programs for the 2010 Winter Games, including OMEGA and Nortel. She later worked on Procter & Gamble’s “Thank You Mom” campaign at the London 2012 Olympic Games. After moving to San Diego, Dana served as development manager for Surfrider Foundation San Diego.

Dana holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Business and Marketing from Queen’s University in Canada.

She is a proud mom to two teenage daughters and a dog, Goose. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and volunteering with the National Charity League to support other amazing charities in the community.
