Carly Bertino
Director of Marketing
A creative thinker and strategic marketer, Carly Bertino leads marketing for Feeding San Diego, shaping a multi-channel strategy that builds brand awareness, deepens engagement, and fuels the organization’s fundraising. She and her team design and run campaigns, tracking results in real time and doubling down on what works. Carly oversees both digital and experiential marketing, expanding the brand’s presence in San Diego County and beyond.
Before stepping into the director role, Carly was the senior marketing manager, where she led a full revamp of the Feeding San Diego website from concept to launch and built systems to personalize how the organization communicates with its supporters. That work grew the donor database and lifted online fundraising.
Carly joined Feeding San Diego in 2020. Earlier in her career, she spent two years in Cameroon as a Peace Corps volunteer, serving as an agribusiness consultant, where she designed a food-security project built around solar food dryers that increased the food supply for 48 farmers and their families. The project’s success was recognized in USAID’s 2016 Annual Report.
She credits the Peace Corps with cultivating a lasting sense of wonder and a deep appreciation for how differently people live and see the world. That perspective shapes how she leads: she listens to understand and believes teams do their best work when people feel supported to take risks, step outside their comfort zones, and treat mistakes as part of the process.
Outside of work, Carly is a lifelong traveler who plays beach volleyball and shoots film photography, and she’s recently started developing her own film at home. This past season she coached a local junior varsity girls’ beach volleyball team. A native of Kauai, Hawaii, she holds a BBA in marketing from the University of San Diego, where she captained the women’s lacrosse team.
