Chief Executive Officer 

Bob Kamensky is the Chief Executive Officer of Feeding San Diego, where he leads one of the region’s most innovative hunger-relief and food rescue organizations, helping provide more than 35 million meals annually to families, children, seniors, and veterans across San Diego County. 

A retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral with more than 35 years of military service, Bob brings decades of strategic leadership and operational expertise to the nonprofit sector. He joined Feeding San Diego in 2021 as Chief Strategy Officer, applying the systems-thinking and operational discipline he developed during his distinguished naval career to strengthen the organization’s strategy, partnerships, and long-term growth. 

In late 2023, Bob stepped into the role of Interim CEO, guiding the organization through a critical leadership transition while reinforcing Feeding San Diego’s position as a trusted leader in local hunger relief. His steady leadership helped advance the organization’s mission while deepening partnerships with community organizations, mission-aligned partners and corporate supporters to expand access to nutritious food for San Diegans in need of food assistance. In early 2024, Bob was officially appointed Chief Executive Officer. 

Bob graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering and was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy. Over the course of his career, he held multiple leadership commands within the U.S. Submarine Force, serving both on active duty and in the Navy Reserve. His military service culminated with his promotion to Rear Admiral, where he held several strategic leadership roles, including establishing and leading a multinational command in Europe as Commander, Submarine Forces NATO. 

In addition to his military career, Bob built a diverse professional background in the private and public sectors. He held leadership roles in the aerospace industry and later served in federal  

service with the Department of the Navy, leading process innovation initiatives for Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR). He also earned a master’s degree in aerospace systems engineering and later shared his leadership experience as an adjunct professor teaching organizational leadership at Point Loma Nazarene University. 

Following his retirement from military service, Bob turned his focus toward community impact, consulting with nonprofit organizations and eventually supporting Feeding San Diego on strategic planning efforts before joining the organization full-time. 

Having first been stationed in San Diego in 1980, Bob considers it a privilege to serve the community his family calls home. As CEO, he leads with a philosophy rooted in servant leadership, mission focus, and responsible stewardship, ensuring that Feeding San Diego continues to innovate and expand its impact in the fight against hunger.
