
Becky Gower
Director of Grants
As director of grants at Feeding San Diego, Becky Gower leads grant strategy, securing private and public grant funding to support the organization’s operating budget, capital needs, and programmatic priorities. Becky oversees the entire grant process, from proposals and applications to progress reports, to ensure performance compliance with grant contracts and awards.
Under Becky’s leadership, Feeding San Diego has secured over $16 million in grant funding to advance the organization’s mission. She manages a diverse portfolio of more than 90 foundation, corporate and government funders partners, and is passionate about connecting meaningful funding opportunities with programs that strengthen communities and improve lives. Becky believes successful grant fundraising is about more than dollars raised. She is committed to building trusted, long-term partnerships, securing resources that expand Feeding San Diego’s impact, and ensuring every investment helps address food insecurity.
Her career began in the legal field as a legal assistant for a private firm. After earning her law degree, she served as a clinical advocate supporting veterans. Becky then served as vice president of operations for a real estate company. In 2018, Becky joined Feeding San Diego as a grant manager, determined to use to use her writing expertise and operations background to help create lasting change in the San Diego community. She was promoted first to senior grants manager and then to director in 2025. Becky’s work ethic earned her an employee of the quarter distinction in 2020.
Becky holds a B.A. in English from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. She also earned a grant writing certificate from San Diego State University, a certified board member credential through the University of San Diego’s Nonprofit Institute and completed Cornell University’s Financial Success for Nonprofits program.
From 2019 to 2021, she served on the board of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, San Diego chapter. She was also a member of the Grants Professionals Association.
Raised in Virginia, Becky moved to San Diego in 2011. Becky and her husband have two children. When she’s not working, Becky enjoys volunteering, spending time with family and friends, and sharing her passion for giving back with her children.
