Yoga with a Purpose

We are excited to wrap up a summer of giving with the accomplishments of local yoga teacher, Amy Krieger. Amy dedicated all proceeds from 10 of her weekly donation-based yoga classes to Feeding San Diego.

Each Thursday evening this past summer, 15-40 people gathered by Mission Bay to do yoga with Amy as she raised funds and awareness for those facing food

insecurity in San Diego. Not only were people getting a great workout, but they were making a difference in San Diego.

Krieger said her idea for the donation-based classes came from her desire to bring people together through her love of yoga, while also giving back to those in need. The classes’ collective efforts raised $1,000 and 143 pounds of food. This generous gift will provide more than 4,140 meals for families facing hunger.

One of Amy’s goals this past summer was to make sure that everyone who participated in the yoga classes left knowing more about the cause with a desire to make a positive change in the community. She hopes her donation will inspire others to find more creative, fun and easy ways to give back. Thank you, Amy, for being an inspiration.
