This Fall, Check Out Pickleball & Golf Charity Events Benefiting Feeding San Diego

This fall, two charity events will benefit Feeding San Diego during the Del Mar Wine & Food Festival, a six-day fest featuring 20+ culinary-fueled events from October 2-7. These charity events are a fantastic way to get outside, have fun, and spend time with like-minded San Diegans, all while giving back to Feeding San Diego.

The Whispering Angel Celebrity Pickleball Tournament, hosted by NFL legend Drew Brees, is returning to bring together celebrities, athletes, chefs, and hunger-relief supporters for an afternoon of pickleball for a good cause. This year’s celebrity athlete players include tennis pros James Blake and CoCo Vandeweghe, former San Diego Padre Mark Loretta, and Drew Brees himself. New this year is the Happy Fillmore Golf Classic, featuring a longest drive and pitch & putt competition. Tickets to both events include food and beverages from more than 20 standout brands.

Get Outside & Give Back

The first of its kind in Southern California, the Del Mar Wine & Food Festival debuted last year and saw more than 8,000 San Diego locals and visitors attend 20 culinary-fueled events.

The festival not only provided an itinerary that showcased the best of the local and national culinary scene but also raised awareness and funds for Feeding San Diego. Last year, the festival donated $25,000 to the organization through fundraising at multiple events. This year, event organizers hope to donate even more with the public’s support.

Events with Impact

The Whispering Angel Celebrity Pickleball Tournament takes place at Bobby Riggs Racket & Paddle in Encinitas on Friday, October 4, from 12 to 4 p.m. Participants have the opportunity to pair with pros and celebrities or play for the title in the advanced-expert and intermediate-advanced categories. The tournament also offers fun, casual recreational play for those looking to ease into the sport or a spectator ticket to eat, drink, and watch the action on the courts.

The Happy Fillmore Golf Classic will be held on Monday, October 7, from 2 to 5:30 p.m. at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club in Solana Beach. Tickets range from $90 for a spectator to $640 for a participating foursome. All proceeds benefit Feeding San Diego’s hunger-relief programs that support local families, students, kids, seniors, military families, and veterans in bringing nutritious meals home.

Additionally, a portion of proceeds from the Grand Tasting events on Saturday and Sunday, October 5 & 6, will benefit Feeding San Diego. There will also be silent auctions and other fun activities that allow attendees to further give back to Feeding San Diego at each event.
