Legal community comes together to fight hunger

Food from the Bar is a friendly fundraising competition among San Diego’s legal professionals. Each team competes to see who can raise the most funds, volunteer the most hours, and donate the most food for Feeding San Diego. The final total will determine the top team, which will take home the Food from the Bar plaque and bragging rights.

A team could be a law firm, insurance company, legal staffing agency, legal association, or even an individual legal professional. All teams work to maximize their fundraising efforts through peer-to-peer campaigning throughout the month of June. Create your team page, and get ready to start competing against your fellow legal colleagues!

Why it Matters

Nearly 400,000 people face hunger in San Diego County, including over 100,000 children, while 31% of all food produced goes to waste in the U.S.

Further, inflation has become impossible to ignore. Throughout the country, families are watching the prices of nearly everything soar. Food budgets simply don’t stretch as far or buy as much as last year.

These price increases are especially challenging for those who already relied on hunger-relief and food rescue organizations like Feeding San Diego. In addition, many members of our community find themselves turning to food assistance for the first time.

Reasons to Join

During this campaign, our Food from the Bar teams will raise critical funds to support our School Pantry expansion. This essential program will provide 2.7 million meals to children and families this fiscal year.

  • The top team will receive the honor of cutting the ribbon at an opening ceremony for a School Pantry and receive the Food from the Bar plaque to display proudly for the year.
  • Teams raising $5,000 or more will receive 2 invitations to a School Pantry Opening.
  • Teams raising $2,500 or more will be listed as a named School Pantry Sponsor in a blog post highlighting the impact of Food from the Bar on our School Pantry Program.
  • The Top Individual Fundraiser will win a dinner for two.
