Where to Find Free Food during the Government Shutdown

Published On: October 13th, 2025By Categories: Resources3.5 min read

At Feeding San Diego, we understand the stress that the 2025 government shutdown causes for federal workers, active-duty military personnel, and their families. We offer food distributions throughout San Diego County that are open to everyone in need of support. We are also working with partners in our network who serve the military community to provide nutritious food to those affected by the shutdown.

We have put together a list of locations where federal workers and the military community can access no-cost groceries. Feeding San Diego is also planning additional food distributions if the government shutdown persists. This page will be updated when information about those distributions becomes available.

Feeding San Diego Food Distributions

Feeding San Diego provides no-cost groceries at hundreds of locations throughout the county. The majority of our distributions have no requirements and provide a mix of fresh produce and pantry staples.

If you or someone you know needs support, visit our Find Food Map to find a food distribution near you.
