This Friday, San Diegans can head to any Dutch Bros Coffee location in San Diego County to support Feeding San Diego, the county’s leading hunger relief and food rescue non-profit and only Feeding America partner food bank in the region. For the second year, the non-profit was chosen by Dutch Bros Coffee as a partner for its Dutch Luv Day of Giving happening during business hours on Friday, February 13. All Dutch Bros locations in San Diego County are participatingwith stores in Chula Vista, El Cajon, Escondido, Vista, and Oceanside. $1 for every drink sold on February 13 will be donated by the Dutch Bros Foundation® to Feeding San Diego. At Feeding San Diego, every $1 donated helps provide two nutritious meals, powered by its efficient food rescue model.

“Being able to support the San Diego community by partnering with Feeding San Diego means a lot to me personally and our local crew,” said Desiree Cravea, a local operator at Dutch Bros. “The impact we can make when we all come together is amazing, and we’re excited for another year of partnering with Feeding San Diego to give back to our community.”

Everyone needs nutritious food to thrive, and in every community in San Diego County, people are working hard to provide for themselves and their families. Yet Feeding America data shows that there are nearly 400,000 people experiencing hunger throughout the county, including over 100,000 childrenSan Diego’s inflation rate was 4% in November, the second highest in the nation. In addition to soaring prices, the expiration of healthcare subsidies that kept health costs low and upcoming cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will affect San Diegans living on low incomes.

Since its founding in 2007, Feeding San Diego has operated hunger relief programs that provide a social safety net for neighbors experiencing food insecurity. Its programs reach targeted populations, including seniors, children enrolled in Title 1 public schools, military families and veterans, and college students. The non-profit rescues surplus food from local and national food donors before it goes to waste and gets it to people facing hunger in San Diego County.

Corporate partnerships are vital to Feeding San Diego’s operating budget, particularly benefit campaigns like the Dutch Luv Day of Giving. 97% of the non-profit’s funding comes from gifts from the community, including individuals, corporations, and foundations, with only about three percent of the operating budget provided by government funding.

“Dutch Luv Day of Giving is a powerful example of how community support can drive real impact,” said AnnMarie Gabaldon, director of corporate partnerships at Feeding San Diego. “Because of Dutch Bros and everyone who participates, families throughout San Diego County will have access to the nutritious food they need. We are deeply grateful for this partnership and the compassion behind it.”
