“It’s really helpful because everything’s so expensive, especially vegetables. That’s my priority goal to stay healthy at home. Right now, the only thing that we can afford is either junk food or something not that healthy. So, I’m here for the vegetables. I have two kids at Berry, eight and eleven, and I also have a four-year-old. It’s going to help us with the budget because with all the expenses, it is really helpful to have that extra support and help. I just want to thank everybody because this is a really great help, and it is just a relief to have someone that cares about people that are struggling to make it on their own day by day.”

“We’ve been living in San Diego for about five years now. I’m active-duty military and we live near here in military housing. We learned about this once we got our kid in school here. It is fantastic to be able to pick it up at a school that we visit every day. It helps us out a lot. We’re on a fixed budget, as everybody is. This helps out immensely, especially whenever we’re picking up fresh fruits and veggies for the kids. We’re spending close to $100 a week just on fresh fruits and veggies, and this helps out a lot.”

“It’s just that I don’t think people really realize what a problem it is when you live up here [in Julian], you’re old, your car breaks down, you only have this much money, and those are critical needs. We have a limited income. We live in the woods. I don’t like to drive to San Diego cause every time I do, that’s $25.00. Also, because I’m a diabetic, I have to be real careful. I can’t eat all the pasta all the time and all that heavy carb stuff. The vegetables that last, those are the best. I’m very familiar with the absolute need in this community for Feeding San Diego. Just how absolutely needed it is for this community. Almost makes me want to cry. We really have a need up here, so you know, don’t forget us.”
