Earlier this month, Nixon donated 500 backpacks to Feeding San Diego, and 18 Nixon employees volunteered to pack the backpacks with apples for the one in six children facing hunger in San Diego County. The volunteer team was so efficient that not only did they glean and pack 2,000 pounds of apples, but they also helped glean 2000 pounds of tomatoes!

Some of these backpacks were distributed to children at North Clairemont Park & Rec on July 19, 2019, as part of the San Diego Unified School District’s Summer Fun BBQs that Feeding San Diego supports.

“Getting kids geared up for school is expensive for many families who operate on the margins with hardly enough money to meet the basics. In my opinion, children’s education is the most important thing for their future, and these are very important years for them. As a company, we see our role as being proponents of change and want to provide support for these families and kids. We want to be good partners of the community and will continue to do our bit to help,” shared Scott Kerslake, CEO of Nixon.

Thank you, Nixon, for your support and commitment to education and hunger-relief in San Diego County!
