Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Cyber Monday: we’re all familiar with these holidays. But have you heard of GivingTuesday? Taking place every year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, GivingTuesday is an opportunity to support the nonprofits whose missions mean the most to you. GivingTuesday 2024 is on Tuesday, December 3rd, and there are impactful ways to support Feeding San Diego, from taking advantage of a giving match to spreading the word about our mission

What Is GivingTuesday?

GivingTuesday is all about radical generosity. In 2012, the event creators wanted to focus on a simple idea: encouraging people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a global movement that inspires millions to collaborate, give, and celebrate generosity. This event reminds us that every act of generosity counts and everyone has something to contribute. Whether you choose to make someone smile, offer support to a friend or stranger, or give to a cause you care about, you’re helping build a better world.

Why Donate on GivingTuesday 2024

When you give on GivingTuesday, you take part in a global generosity movement. Even better, your donation goes twice as far when you give during our GivingTuesday campaign. Starting Sunday, December 1, until midnight on GivingTuesday, The David C. Copley Foundation and the San Diego Foundation will match every donation made up to $150,000.

You can also take part in the excitement of our Month of a Million Meals telethon with ABC 10News San Diego. Now in its 13th year, the annual telethon is a major fundraiser for our organization. Starting at 5 a.m. on December 3, volunteers will be standing by to take your donation by phone. You can call or text “MEALS” to 858.500.7805.

Then, at 4 p.m., our telethon will officially kick off on ABC 10News. Tune in to see surprise guests and learn more about how your gifts make a difference.

What Your Donation Supports

At Feeding San Diego, every dollar you give helps provide two meals and rescue two pounds of food from going to waste. When you give, you help people and the planet. By giving during our GivingTuesday campaign, your same dollar helps provide four meals and rescue four pounds of food!

Exercise Radical Generosity

At Feeding San Diego, we know the power of generosity. We see it all year long. We see it in our volunteers who donate their time to help sort rescued food and distribute it to the community, in our donors who give funds to help support our mission, in our partners who donate food and funds, and in our network of over 300 partners who operate food distributions to support their local communities. We’re so grateful to be part of a community that cares so deeply about its neighbors. This GivingTuesday, we hope you join the generosity movement in some way. Whether you give time, funds, or food, you’re making a difference!
