The Feeding San Diego nutrition team just wrapped up Phase 1 of a two-part grant in conjunction with Feeding America, University of California San Francisco, the Gretchen Swanson Center for Nutrition, and the United States Center for Disease Control.

In Phase 1, we recruited two research assistants to help administer a survey at local distributions and test the ability of the survey to measure nutrition habits and healthy food access. Our assistants conducted over 80 surveys over the course of two months at First Christian Church of National City, Meridian Baptist Church and Laurel Elementary School.

In Phase 2, we will use the improved and validated survey to test a nutrition-based intervention at a pantry. Thank you to the research assistants and sites that helped us successfully complete Phase 1!
