Proceeds from the sale of every dish benefit the hunger-relief and food rescue non-profit

Starting today, Feeding San Diego, the county’s leading hunger-relief and food rescue organization, will benefit from the sale of frozen meals created by local celebrity chef Angelo Sosa in collaboration with the brand In Good Company. In Good Company offers chef-made frozen meals from local chefs and restaurants, delivered directly to customer’s homes. The collaboration meal that benefits Feeding San Diego is on sale as of today, October 25, and will be delivered to customers the week of November 8. There will also be a second opportunity to purchase the week of November 29, with deliveries happening the week of December 13. For every meal sold, $1 will be donated to Feeding San Diego to help provide meals to San Diegans facing hunger. Customers can also make an additional donation at checkout.

For this collaboration, Chef Angelo generously donated his talent to create a frozen iteration of his Tia Carmen’s Chicken Guisado, a comforting spiced chicken stew with chicken thighs, olives, potatoes, and carrots. The meal is inspired by his Tia Carmen, who he grew up cooking with in her tiny kitchen in Queens, New York. Her home and kitchen were safe places for him as a child and his experiences cooking with her have informed his career as a chef. Chef Angelo is a longtime supporter of Feeding San Diego and has participated in a number of initiatives on behalf of the nonprofit over the years.

“For me, cooking is a way to express myself,” shares Chef Angelo. “When people eat this dish, I want them to feel not only my passion but the passion about this cause. What I love about Feeding San Diego is that they donate to anyone and are there for individuals going through a hard time in life. That resonates with me.”

Chef Angelo lives in Encinitas and was runner-up on Top Chef Season 7. He later returned to compete on Season 8: All-Stars. His culinary experience has brought him from New York City to San Diego, where he was the opening chef of Death by Tequila when it opened in 2018, and then went on to open Small Barn in Temecula.

“Chef Angelo is amazing, his passion for food and community really shines through everything he does. Hearing him explain the origin story of the dish and what it means to create it now in a way that supports Feeding San Diego– an organization he is deeply committed to– really brought meaning to our work,” says Ashleigh Ferran, founder of In Good Company. “I am so excited for people to get to enjoy Chef Angelo’s amazing food at home as it is truly cooked from the heart.”

Those interested in purchasing the dish can visit the In Good Company website here. The dish is on sale for one week only and sales will close at midnight on Sunday, October 31.
