FEEDING SAN DIEGO KICKS OFF SPREAD LOVE SAN DIEGO CAMPAIGN TO PROVIDE HUNGER RELIEF AND SUPPORT THE LOCAL HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

Local hunger relief and food rescue nonprofit has organized two initiatives to spread love while giving back to the local restaurant community

SAN DIEGO (February 1, 2021) — To support the local hospitality industry that has generously partnered with Feeding San Diego over the years, the county’s leading hunger relief and food rescue nonprofit has launched a campaign called Spread Love San Diego that includes two initiatives to give back. Feeding San Diego’s work has always been closely intertwined with the local food community, whether it’s working with celebrity chefs to spread the word of its mission or partnering with restaurants and caterers to rescue food that would otherwise go to waste. Starting on February 1, San Diegans will have a number of ways to get involved, and members of the hospitality community can rely on the organization for a dedicated food distribution. During the month of love, Feeding San Diego aims to spread kindness and hope amongst one of the hardest-hit industries of the pandemic.

• Dedicated Food Distributions for Hospitality Employees: Starting today, February 1, Feeding San Diego will host its first in a series of food distributions exclusively for members of the hospitality industry who are out of work or working reduced hours and in need of nutritious food. This distribution will take place at 1 p.m. every Monday during the month of February at Pechanga Arena (3500 Sports Arena Blvd, San Diego, CA 92110). More than 1100 households will be supported through each distribution. Every registered attendee will receive approximately 50 pounds worth of dry goods, fresh produce, and a frozen meat protein. In addition, registrants will receive valuable resources on how to access other Feeding San Diego distributions close to their home and information about CalFresh, and how to apply. People who would like to attend this distribution must pre-register. Go to spreadlovesandiego.org to learn more.

• Valentine’s Day E-cards – Double your impact: From February 1-14, Feeding San Diego supporters can make a donation and send a special e-card to a loved one this Valentine’s Day, with all funds helping to provide nutritious meals for people facing hunger. ESET is generously matching all e-card donations up to $20K.

Thank you to our campaign sponsors, ESET and Power Plus Productions, for spreading love by supporting those in our community who need help, now more than ever.
