FEEDING SAN DIEGO CELEBRATES GIVING TUESDAY WITH DOLLAR FOR-DOLLAR MATCH ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1

Virtual day of giving to help San Diegans struggling with hunger during the pandemic

SAN DIEGO (November 30, 2020) — Feeding San Diego is taking action this #GivingTuesday with a virtual day of giving, made even more impactful by a dollar-for-dollar match by the David C. Copley Foundation, up to $50,000. All donations made on Tuesday, December 1 will have double the impact to San Diego County’s leading hunger-relief and food rescue organization and the only Feeding America member in the region.

Feeding San Diego’s annual Month of a Million Meals telethon will be on ABC10 on Tuesday, December 1 featuring local celebrities, chefs and athletes to unite the community in the fight against hunger. Guests include Bravo Top Chef finalists Angelo Sosa and Brian Malarkey, Grammy Award-winning musician Jason Mraz, and former Padre Mark Loretta. San Diegans can tune in to see feature stories about those who Feeding San Diego serves, volunteer spotlights, an interview with CEO Dan Shea and more. Together, we can harness the spirit of giving to ensure that every person facing hunger has access to high-quality, nutritious food. Every act of generosity counts.”

With an estimated 50 percent increase in need due to business and school closures, thousands of San Diegans are facing food insecurity, many for the first time. Feeding San Diego is distributing over 700,000 more meals a month than the same time last year to meet the increased need.
