Agency Spotlight: Ramona Food and Clothes Closet
For the month of April, Feeding San Diego’s partnership team is spotlighting North Inlands’ Ramona Food and Clothes Closet (RFCC). Their mission is “to serve as a humanitarian organization providing emergency food, clothing, and other resources to aid individuals and low-income families in Ramona, Santa Ysabel, Julian, Ranchita, Borrego Springs, Warner Springs, and outlying rural areas.”
Serving Rural Areas
RFCC feeds more than 200 individual community members through their monthly Friday distribution and their pantry. The distribution takes place every third Friday of the month. The pantry is open Monday through Friday, with some clients coming in more than once. They have grown their capacity, signed up new clients, and now have walk-in cold storage offset by solar power. They have also grown their food rescue connections. In March 2023, they rescued a total of 6,020 pounds of food, and they continue to work to increase this amount.
Ramona Food and Clothes Closet Celebrates 40 Years of Service
Ramona Food and Clothes Closet is celebrating 40 years of service in their community on April 22. We congratulate RFCC on this accomplishment and look forward to the continued partnership. Feeding San Diego is grateful for our partnership with RFCC and all they do for their community.
You can read more about the different ways RFCC works in the community, such as their educational scholarships, waste program, and thrift store, on their website.
