As Chief Philanthropy Officer, Gavon Morris is focused on inspiring philanthropic support, engaging the community in ending hunger, and expanding contributed revenue to advance Feeding San Diego’s mission and strategic goals.

Over the past 18 years in the public benefit sector, Gavon Morris has built a breadth of experience in community organizations committed to meaningful missions and collaborative change. Prior to joining Feeding San Diego, he led fund development, marketing and communications, and community engagement as Director, Development and Marketing at YWCA of San Diego County. There, he secured multi-million-dollar funding to expand residential programs and community services for domestic violence survivors and their children.

Before moving to YWCA, Gavon served as Director of Marketing and External Affairs at Feeding San Diego, leading a comprehensive marketing initiative to increase brand awareness and inspire philanthropic support. In this role, he led the cross-functional community mobilization team, charged with the strategy and implementation of the organization’s fundraising and community engagement programs. Prior to joining Feeding San Diego, he served as Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications for The New Children’s Museum, where he was a member of the founding staff that led to the realization of a $28 million capital campaign and new facility. During his tenure, he helped establish institutional records in marketing, fundraising, and program initiatives.
