Last month, the Mobile Pantry in San Marcos transitioned from a truck hosted distribution to a drop model.

Originally our Mobile Pantry trucks would supply the truck and the food to host the distribution. The drop model allows Feeding San Diego to provide twice the amount of fresh fruits and vegetable items as well as more staple goods to families in San Marcos.

This model allows Feeding San Diego’s truck to pull up to the host site, deliver the food for the distribution, close the truck, and move onto the next distribution.

The new model also helps for increasing distribution efficiency and allowing more food to be delivered to the communities throughout San Diego County.

Collaboration with North County Health Services who host the distribution in San Marcos made the transition possible.

We are always looking for ways to improve distribution and every move forward that we take is a huge step towards fighting hunger in San Diego.
