Volunteer of the Month
Please join us in celebrating Marylu Ramirez as our Volunteer of the Month! Marylu makes others feel welcome and comfortable during each volunteer shift. Her warmth and kindness truly make volunteers feel like they are a part of our Feeding San Diego family.
Since September 2013 she has donated more than 358 hours; helping to sort donations, pack food for kids and families, and more. Marylu has volunteered at Open House events, Thanksgiving food distributions, Starbucks Global Month of Service days, and even our Scare Away Hunger event around Halloween. Most recently she has even become Team Leader Certified which better allows her to lead projects and inspire others to take action in our mission.
What’s truly impressive is that Marylu knows that fighting hunger doesn’t just happen in the four walls of our distribution center. She has become a champion of our mission by donating food and sharing stories on her social media. She is also taking advantage of her employer’s volunteer match program- which has helped provide $2,00: the equivalent of 8,000 meals. That’s amazing!
It’s because of volunteers like Marylu that we can truly change the lives of the kids and families struggling with hunger right here in our community.
